We are seeking 3 full time, temporary Lab Support Specialists in our LCMS department.  The schedule for these positions is Tuesday-Saturday or Sunday-Thursday, from 8pm-4:30am.  These positions will be temporary for 6 months.  The Lab Support Specialist will assist in preparing and analyzing biological specimens for drugs or other compounds.  Duties include instrument maintenance and set-up, preparation and validation of reagents, controls and calibrators, etc.  A Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Chemical, Physical, or Biological Science is required, and experience with LCMS is preferred.  Other duties include:

  • Generating pre-analytical reports for specimen analysis
  • Entering results in LIMS
  • Performing basic instrument troubleshooting
  • Discarding all chemicals and biological materials properly
  • Participating in projects and Kaizen methodologies
  • Participating in all laboratory safety practices

Depending on the needs of the department, further duties may include documenting quality control and taking appropriate corrective action, performing directed method validation, and independently performing analytical testing.  Candidate must demonstrate understanding of basic analytical concepts, as well as possess good organizational and interpersonal skills.  Good computer skills are also required.  In addition, the candidate must have the ability to interpret and execute various technical procedures in verbal, written, mathematical or diagrammatical form, and also must demonstrate a high level of integrity.

Physical demands and working conditions include:

  • Ability to hear
  • Vision (with correction) including color, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Standing, reaching with hands and arms, and using hands and fingers to manipulate instrument or equipment controls, computer keyboard, office equipment, objects or tools
  • Movement from one work location to another
  • Sitting and standing, sometimes for extended periods of time
  • Lifting objects up to 20 lbs.
  • Exposure to intermittent or constant sounds generated by equipment
  • Exposure to fumes, noxious odors, and dust
  • Exposure to biological material and blood-borne pathogens
  • Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals
  • Proximity to moving parts
