As a key member of the Ruth S. Ammon School of Education (SOE) senior management team, the Director for Research and Evaluation provides leadership, direction and daily management of the SOE ‘s institutional data collection, analysis and dissemination in the service of accreditations, promoting a culture of continuous program improvement, public accountability, and faculty research.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Provide leadership for faculty, SOE committees, and SOE senior management team in refining, streamlining and maintaining effective and efficient assessment systems that meet all accreditation requirements (e.g. ASHA & NCATE) are compliant with New York State and regional standards and further the mission and goals of the SOE
- Liaise with the appropriate University offices, but especially with the University Office of Sponsored Research and the University Office of Research, Assessment and Planning
- Provide leadership in crafting research agendas that build on the institutional and accreditation data collection and analysis; assist faculty in analyzing and using data for continuous improvement of programs.
-Provide leadership in the collection of appropriate data and the writing and submitting of narrative and statistical reports associated with assessment, accreditation, HEOA (Title II) and PEDS (AACTE)
-Provide leadership in ensuring that the professional education community of SOE are full participants in assessment and accreditation processes.
-Work closely with the Director of School and Community Partnerships to ensure that clinical experiences for pre-service teachers are compliant with SOE accreditation and assessment systems and processes.
-Maintain a working relationship with appropriate NYSED, NCATE and ASHA officials
-Ensure that faculty and staff receive appropriate professional development related to assessment and evaluation, including organizing an annual “Assessment Day” to address assessment needs of the SOE.
-Establish yearly goals and objectives in readiness for the 2012 NCATE site visit; monitor and manage achievement of those goals.
-Ensure institutional data is complete and appropriately disaggregated to meet internal and external reporting requirements; provide the senior management team with regular analyses and interpretation of institutional data.
- Ensure processes for SOE participation in longitudinal data analysis regarding graduate employment; provide the senior management team with regional labor market reports as appropriate.
-Work closely with the Arts and Science Liaison Officer to ensure and maintain a comprehensive partnership in the accreditation and assessment process.
- Be willing to travel to conferences as needed.
- Support faculty in research and evaluation design; assist faculty with IRB applications
- Work with the Office of Public Affairs to provide timely responses for the public to key education and human service issues as appropriate.
- Maintain currency with research findings pertinent to the mission and goals of the School of Education
REQUIREMENTS:

-Possess excellent interpersonal and oral/written communication talents
-Be able to maximize time on task and meet deadlines
-Be familiar with accreditation processes and procedures in New York State, with NCATE experience highly preferred
-Experience in higher education preferred
EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Earned Doctoral degree or ABD required, with background in measurement and evaluation highly desirable; three to five years experience in higher education or similar environment with evidence of progressive responsibilities.
