Description

Adelphi University’s Ruth S. Ammon School of Education is pursuing an exciting agenda of growth and community outreach.  Seeking dynamic educators committed to serving diverse populations in the metropolitan area.  This position requires an earned doctorate in the teaching discipline or a related field; an active scholarly agenda; service to the Ruth S. Ammon School of Education and the University; and a strong commitment to teaching, advising, and mentoring graduate and undergraduate students.

DEPARTMENT OF CURRICULUM AND INSTRUCTION

 

Ruth S. Ammon Endowed Chair in Mathematics Childhood Education

Tenure Track Associate or Full Professor

Applicants must be leaders in mathematics education with a record of substantial scholarship in the preparation of elementary/childhood teachers for effective mathematics instruction; earned doctorate; evidence of engagement with schools, school reform, and university based partnerships. Preference will be given to candidates who have demonstrated commitment to improving mathematical education of elementary teacher candidates. A key role for the individual is to build capacity of the programs and department, including support for professional development, coordination of guest colloquia, and initiating applied research in schools. Preference will be given to candidates who have a demonstrated commitment to urban education. The successful candidate is expected to sustain scholarship in his/her field, provide leadership in curriculum development, provide mentoring for faculty, and to participate in program, department, and university activities and initiatives. Teaching responsibilities include both graduate and undergraduate courses scholarship.
