PURPOSE:
· Under guidance of the specialist team head, provide independent audit assurance through delivery of a portfolio of audit reviews related to the adequacy, effectiveness and sustainability of the risk, control and governance frameworks with specific emphasis on risks related to Financial Reporting, Financial Management and Insurance Risk.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
· Delivers FM&A audit plans and provide support for audit mega process options for NAR business.
· Oversees assigned staff in leading complex audit reviews, across multiple locations, from planning to close.
· Reviews assurance work programs oversees the execution of those work programs.
· Reviews working papers and audit files to support the findings of assigned audit reviews.
· Reviews audit issues, findings and reports.
· Ensure audit methodology and standards are applied to all reviews
· Manages a team of Auditors assigned to the audit review, providing coaching, mentoring and work assignments.
· Works with stakeholder management within business unit being audited regards to the planning and delivery of the specific assignments.
· Delivers audit findings to local business management.
· Develops and maintains professional relationships with relevant “external” audit resources.
· Oversees of the work performed by contract employees.
· Develops and leads a team of professionals by:
o Hiring and retaining a qualified professional staff.
o Establishing performance expectations
o Mentoring and coaching behaviours.
o Driving results.
o Establishing a strategic direction for the team.
o Communicating effectively to the team.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Education and experience equivalent to a four-year college degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, finance or other related field.
· ASA or FSA actuarial designation preferred.
· Professional certification (e.g. CPA, CIA, CISA and/or FLMI) preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
· Minimum of six (6) years of financial related experience in the life insurance/financial services industry
· Required/highly preferred experience would include public accounting, IFRS, and/or actuarial background, especially around MCEV
· Three plus (3+) years of management/leadership experience.
· Experience in risk management, assurance or control activities.
· Experience in risk identification and defining practical solutions.
· Experience in building relationships with business unit personnel.
· Evidence of proven career track record and consistent record of achievement.
