Supervise translation department and co-ordinate work packages for off-site Production staff. Review and edit translated text to support the production of error-free electronic and hard copy publications. Advise on and help prepare proposals for contracts containing bilingual services requirements. Co-ordinate products with large bilingual service requirements with sub-contractor(s).
 
 
Key Areas of Responsibility:
 
§          Monitor translation and off-site personnel and complete daily timesheets for payroll submissions.
§          Provide quality editing checks of translation processes and products.
§          Complete estimates for translation work packages and update management databases.
§          Provide the Production Manager and Production Editing Supervisors with required data to plan and complete bilingual publications.
§          Provide required liaison on bilingual matters between the company, customers, sub-contractors, and publication users at all levels.
§          Prepare briefings and papers for internal use to secure contracts as required.
§          Monitor all bilingual work to ensure schedule and budget performance.
§          Assist the Production Manager in such matters as estimating, scheduling, personnel interviews, customer liaison and proposal writing.
§          Draft input for a translation lexicon database.
§          Attend progress review meetings with customers.
§          Advise the Production Manager of any translation sub-contract requirements and co-ordinate such translation.
§          Other duties as assigned by the Production Manager.
 
 
       Position Requirements:
 
§          University Degree (Bachelor level) with a major in either languages or translation, or equivalent experience.
§          Being a member of the Canadian Translator and Interpreter Council or an affiliated association would be an asset.
§          Fluency in English and French.
§          Ability to comprehend technical data in both languages.
§          Experience in technical writing and MS Word
§          5 (five) years experience in bilingual documentation preparation.
§          Supervisory experience, although equivalent experience will be considered.
§          Proactive, cooperative, detail-oriented and dedicated
§          Must be eligible to meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Canadian government security clearances.
