PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

1.       Optical Fiber drawing and glass tubing on a daily basis

2.       Joining glass rod with fiber pre-form using glass lathe

3.       Chemical mixture mixing

4.       Handle pressurized liquid air dewar/cylinders

5.       Performs routine maintenance for optical drawing towers (both UV curing and thermal curing), plastic extruders, glass lathe, chillers, etc. under supervision

6.       Calibrate microscope, LaserMikes, etc.

7.       Measure fiber core/clad/coating diameters using microscope

Experience: 

·         Knowledge of optical fiber drawing tower and glass lathe

·         Knowledge of optical fiber drawing and glass tubing caning

·         Knowledge about plastic extruder

·         Knowledge about plastic extrusion

·         Basic knowledge of fiber optics

·         Mechanical/Optics background needed

·         Some production experience desired
