Chief Energy Services Officer
Responsibilities/Duties:
The Colorado Springs Utilities Chief Energy Services Officer reports to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and as a member of the Executive Team provides overall direction for the organization and the Energy Services Division. The Chief Energy Services Officer is responsible for a core business line providing electric generation, transmission and distribution services, gas procurement, gas distribution, streetlight services, and associated operational services. Other duties include:
• Carry out the overall direction for the Energy Services Division as set by the CEO and established through the organizational ends and executive limitations as set forth in the governance policy statements
• Ensure reliable supply and delivery of electric, gas and streetlight services
• Maintain environmentally responsible, cost effective and safe operations
• Develop and maintain a results driven workforce including an Incident and Injury Free safety culture
• Identify, prioritize, plan and implement current and future infrastructure needs
• Establish and maintain effective relationships with governmental, legislative bodies and other industry organizations through personal contacts and organizational affiliations
• Responsible for executing strategic and business planning processes and activities including long term financial studies and modeling, and the preparation and presentation of business and budget plans
Relevant Background: Candidates for this position will typically have a bachelor degree in engineering or a related field, and have ten years of progressively responsible utility experience including at least five years in a senior management or executive level position. Ideal candidates will have planning, operational and/or field experience in utility services, and have experience managing a large organizational function. A balance of strong leadership and experience giving presentations to Boards and Commissions is required.
