The Scientific Software Engineer will develop the next generation of genetic analysis tools and product features, in collaboration with top-notch biologists and software engineers. The ideal candidate enjoys genetics and working with large databases such as HapMap and dbSNP, and because we are dealing with personal genetic data, wants to make sure that every bit is in the right place.
Responsibilities:
- Develop software tools and libraries to support internal research.
- Design, implement and maintain internal systems for storing biological information.
- Design and implement processes for integration of disparate sources of individual genomic information into internal databases.
- Design controls and quality metrics for internal data flow.
- Synchronization of internal data with outside databases (new genome assemblies, dbSNP versions, etc).
Qualifications:
- BS in computer science plus 2 years experience or equivalent. Coursework or demonstrable interest in bioinformatics a plus.
- Interest in research a plus.
- Extensive programming experience: proficiency with scripting languages; background in C/C++ preferred.
- Experience with database design and management, preferably MySQL.
- Biotech or pharmaceutical industry experience a plus.
