Scientific curator

23andMe is looking for a biologist who is interested in staying current with progress in genomics, without all the muss and fuss of working in a wet lab (and no danger of aggravating that old pipetting injury). This person will primarily be responsible for scanning and annotating peer-reviewed literature to collect published genotype-phenotype associations. 

The curator will conduct literature searches and research background information which will ultimately turn into content for the 23andMe website. 

The position requires training in basic genetics and statistics as well as familiarity with current genomics research. The successful candidate will be able to work independently while communicating effectively in a team environment.

Required Qualifications

• PhD in molecular Biology, genetics or related field
  
• Basic knowledge of statistics.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to read scientific literature outside of their domain of expertise and extract relevant genotype-phenotype associations.
• Experience using dbSNP, UCSC Golden Path Human Genome Browser, PubMed, EntrezGene and other NCBI resources.
• Broad familiarity with different biological disciplines.
