Position Summary: Direct the financial planning and analysis function to support decision making and business planning. Responsible for a team of professionals to produce accurate, timely, actionable, unbiased and relevant financial information for senior management’s key decisions while building and enhancing cross-functional communication. Drive forward thinking and financial accountability throughout the team and the finance organization. Develop partnerships within the Finance team and other user teams throughout the organization which fosters mutual reliance, accountability and results for the Company. Primary Responsibilities: 1. Collaborate with staff to set direction, development objectives, and manage workflow to translate Company objectives into functional goals and objectives. Direct the completion of timely, concise, accurate and value added predictive information to improve the Executive decision making process including both short term and long-term strategic planning. 2. Accountable for managing the budgeting and forecasting process. Establish timelines and deadlines to complete budgeting and forecasting to meet internal and external Company reporting requirements. Play an active role in the development of COPT financial objectives and provide feedback, at regular intervals, to the executive team on progress toward achievement of those objectives. 3. Accountable for communicating results including development projects, operations, administrative functions, acquisitions, capital transactions and dispositions by providing analysis, measurements, hurdle rates and follow-up to foster accountability. 4. Accountable for providing feedback on all project (investment/development) modeling and ensure projects meet/exceed corporate hurdle rates. Provide executive decision support in a variety of areas, to include, but not limited to, cost reduction, NAV analysis, competitor/peer Analysis, capital modeling, and risk management as needed. 5. Responsible for staff management including recruiting/hiring, supervision, disciplinary actions, recognition, salary administration, performance appraisals and terminations. Develop and train staff to ensure high skill levels and technical competence. Partner with Human Resources on employee development and planning initiatives. Responsible for the continued awareness of the COPT core values (ISITE). 6. Prepare and deliver presentations to executive management to influence decision making and win confidence with the executive team. Secondary Responsibilities: 1. Participate in company-wide projects and initiatives. 2. Perform other job related duties as assigned. Requirements: 1. Bachelor Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or other related field. 2. Either MBA or CPA required. 3. Minimum of ten years of Finance experience. 4. Specific finance experience in the real estate industry preferred. 5. PC proficiency to include (to include but not limited to) Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and ability to learn company specific software. 6. Experience utilizing financial analysis software preferred. 7. Experience as a critical player in a company with demonstrated knowledge of accounting, reporting and financial analysis. 8. Experience as a leader who can manage a strong financial team and improve their understanding of the business, its strategy and financial transactions. 9. Understanding of real estate operations, investment and development business preferred. 10. Results oriented with passion for improvement and excellence. 11. Creativity and ability to think outside the box. 12. Ability to manage multiple tasks and flexible to handle changing priorities. 13. Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills. | |
