Summary of Work Performed:

This position is responsible for leading operations engineering and maintenance teams, managing capital and process improvement projects, and supporting corporate and seven branch plant facilities in Minnesota and Illinois.  Accountabilities include direct supervision of technical support personnel, project planning and execution, capital and maintenance budget management, facilities and equipment maintenance, preventive maintenance program, regulatory compliance, risk management, and process improvement. 

 

Duties include:

  • Staffing, training, and development of engineers and technicians
  • Supervising union and non-union maintenance personnel
  • Planning, budgeting, and executing capital and system startup projects
  • Managing facilities, equipment, and preventive maintenance programs
  • Ensuring quality and regulatory compliance (EPA, OSHA, ISO, cGMP/GMP, DOT)
  • Partnering with EHS to develop and implement risk management strategy
  • Directing specialty chemical, food, and pharmaceutical process improvements
  •  Leading monthly Project Management Review (PMR)
  • Serving at HAZWOPER incident command level
  • Supporting development and implementation of CFATS Site Security Plans

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Chemistry, Biology or equivalent field required.  Master’s degree in engineering or equivalent field preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years technical management experience in specialty chemical, food ingredient, and pharmaceutical industries, including plant manufacturing, storage, and distribution systems.
  • Minimum of 10 years experience directing capital and process improvement projects, facilities and equipment maintenance, and new system startups in both union and non-union industrial environments.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, ISO, cGMP/GMP, DOT & CFATS regulations.
  • Working knowledge of MPro, MRP/ERP systems, MS-Office applications (Word, Excel, and Access), and Lean Manufacturing practices.
