The Emergency Roster is a team of experienced personnel located across the globe who are available to be called on to work for CARE in humanitarian emergencies. Members can be deployed anywhere there is a significant humanitarian crisis, including those countries where CARE currently operates or in countries where CARE does not have existing operations. During an emergency response, the number of job vacancies will vary according to the scope and scale of each response. As the need for short term, emergency personnel arises, the pre-selected staff on the emergency roster are matched against the criteria of each job vacancy and contacted accordingly for deployment. Once contacted for deployment, you are expected to be available for immediate travel to the assignment.

People on the emergency roster are part of an extraordinary team that lead CARE's response to humanitarian emergencies. Members benefit from training and experience like none other and develop valuable on the job leadership skills. All emergency roster personnel are deemed to be international staff when on assignment. When selected for a emergency roster assignment, a person is employed by a CARE International national member on a temporary duty assignment contract. Once the assignment is complete, the staff returns to their normal job. Compensation for emergency assignment is in line the staffing policies of the hiring CARE lead member. Staff is supported with travel arrangements and the appropriate insurance is provided for travel and duration of assignment.
