ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:
Brewer Consulting is FTI's Construction Solutions business in Europe, Middle East and Asia and forms part of FTI's Forensic, Litigation and Consulting segment.
An opportunity has become available for a Senior Consultant to join our growing team of professionals in London. We are seeking an experienced construction professional with claims consultancy experience, who is skilled at claims preparation, commercial management and dispute resolution.
Reporting to one of our Senior Managing Directors, the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the range of work carried out in the UK and overseas. This will include assisting with quantum expert work, commercial/contract management, representing parties in adjudication, preparation and response to time and money claims.
The position offers the opportunity for advancement within the practice including the responsibility to manage others in connection with any commission for which the consultant is made responsible, and the opportunity to assist in business development activities. The position also provides the opportunity to assist in the delivery of in-house training programmes to clients. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic and committed with a desire to learn and to develop the experience already gained in this field. Good analytical, written and oral communication skills are key skills required of this position.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
- Undertake a range of commissions and drive through to a successful completion
- Provide a timely and high quality service to clients
- Provide high quality written reports and advice
- Manage the input of others necessary to complete the task
- Comply with the Quality Assurance procedures of the practice
- Complete a monthly time sheet
- Inform client of progress and prepare a monthly client report
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- A first degree in engineering or construction
- A minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience
- A sound knowledge of construction and contract law
- Hands on experience in dealing with commercial aspects of the construction process
- Experience of delivering projects on site
PREFERRED SKILLS:
- A recognised construction professional qualification in engineering or building
- A second degree in law or construction law or some other legal qualification is desirable
- Minimum 3 years in a construction contract consultancy
- Experience of claim preparation and response
- Experience of adjudication
- Experience of expert work
