Carbine Studios is seeking a talented Senior UI Designer to join our growing team of MMO developers in Aliso Viejo, CA. The ideal candidate will have strong ideas on optimum interface layout and a strong sense of user interface flow, as well as being able to produce style guides to communicate their vision to artists, programmers and other designers.

This person is responsible for the design of all elements of human interface in the game including control schemes, interaction methods, and graphical user interface. He or she will assure that every UI in the game provides the functionality required by the underlying systems while at the same time maintaining a consistent theme with the artwork and other UI elements in the game. Additionally, the Senior UI Designer will be responsible for ensuring that consistent and easy to understand interaction mechanics are developed and maintained, and he or she will also design browser interfaces for all Web-exposed game features. The Senior UI Designer is expected to work closely with our UI artist and our UI programmer, and to provide and accept constructive feedback about the user interface to and from other members of the team.

Requirements

• Bachelors Degree or higher (BA or BFA in Graphic Design, or equivalent preferred)
• Five years of game industry experience, preferably in interface design
• Proficiency in tools such as Photoshop, After Effects, Flash, Visio or equivalent
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Strong understanding of usability design principles
• Solid knowledge of the various MMO interaction models and control schemes
