KEY PURPOSE
To review, re-launch and sustain WCM practices in the Packaging Department. The candidate will carry the accountability and authority to ensure WCM governance as a key philosophy to drive a high performance culture in the department. To identify, co-ordinate and actively participate in systemic & shop floor level value-chain improvement initiatives aimed at optimizing business & manufacturing processes, eliminating waste and improving product quality.
KEY OUTPUTS
- Review the status of WCM according to the principles of “The SABMiller Manufacturing Way”
- Plan and priorities the revitalization of WCM throughout the brewery starting with Job design and end-state analysis.
- Coordinate the update of Work Instructions for all level 1 teams.
- Facilitate WCM and SOP training in close cooperation with HRD resources.
- Ensure the integration of WCM with IMP to ensure sustainability.
- Regular internal audits of Team Work Practices and GEMS.
- Identify Value opportunities using appropriate tools such as Value Stream Mapping, DMAIC and 6 Sigma tools.
- Support the Regional Strategy Setting in line with the Manufacturing Strategy
- Drive Knowledge Management in Packaging
KEY ROLES, SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED
- Demonstrated understanding of WCM principles.
- Prior experience in implementing WCM principles.
- Project management capabilities to ensure delivery of initiatives from start-up through implementation to entrenchment, using appropriate communication milestones.
- A good understanding of Change Management Processes.
- Excellent skills and tools transfer capabilities (Ability to train and coach others).
- Excellent interpersonal skills - Clear capability and credibility to influence.
- Ability to influence all levels in the business through relationship building.
- Be prepared to challenge line management on MDev related concepts.
- Ability to act as coach for levels 1, 2 & 3.
QUALIFICATIONS KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE
Tertiary Qualification Industrial Engineering or related HRD/Business Management field
- 3 Years experience in a manufacturing environment including 1-2 years experience in implementing supply chain, production or process improvement related initiatives.
- Green belt / Black belt training.
