SCOPE
 
The Americans for the Arts Internship Program offers undergraduate and graduate students the opportunity to investigate and participate in the operations of the nation’s leading nonprofit organization for advancing the arts in America. Through a combination of learning experiences, work projects, and group collaborations, interns become integral members of our team. Program benefits include career support, member services, and a series of leadership discussions with Americans for the Arts staff. Interns are expected to participate in daily activities, contribute skills and ideas, and produce excellent work, all the while preparing to become the next generation of arts, nonprofit, and cultural leaders.
 
The Intern for Leadership Alliances will be working in the Washington, DC Office of Americans for the Arts.
 
As an intern with the Leadership Alliances department of Americans for the Arts, you will work closely with the of Leadership Alliances Associate in the development of a broad range of projects designed to assist in the preparation of cultivation events and to increase the organization’s individual donor base.
 
 
RESPONSIBILITES
 
The following is a listing of projects and duties:
  • Assist with preparation and follow-up for events including the National Arts Awards
  • Conduct prospect research for individual donor prospects
  • Use search databases and publications such as the Chronicle of Philanthropy, online business magazines, WealthEngine, Wealth Register, and Google
  • Assist with the planning and execution of donor events
  • Contribute research and written content for printed publications targeted at top arts leaders
  • Attend key meetings and take notes
  • Some filing needed
  • Other duties as assigned
 
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 
  • Knowledge of mail merges and data sorting in Excel
  • Comfortable with talking to prospective donors via telephone and in person
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks at concurrently
  • Attention to detail is crucial
  • A fun and gregarious personality is a plus
