SCOPE
 
The Americans for the Arts Internship Program offers undergraduate and graduate students the opportunity to investigate and participate in the operations of the nation’s leading nonprofit organization for advancing the arts in America. Through a combination of learning experiences, work projects, and group collaborations, interns become integral members of our team. Program benefits include career support, member services, and a series of leadership discussions with Americans for the Arts staff. Interns are expected to participate in daily activities, contribute skills and ideas, and produce excellent work, all the while preparing to become the next generation of arts, nonprofit, and cultural leaders.
 
About the Programs:
The Private Sector Initiatives department of Americans for the Arts is leading efforts to stimulate more private sector support for the arts. This work includes promoting partnership between the arts and business, in part through the national network of Arts & Business Councils, Business Volunteers for the Arts partnerships, Business Committees for the Arts and United Arts Funds. RESPONSIBILITES
  • It will primarily focus on updating resources for the PSI website.
  • Working on consolidating existing research on private sector trends in business, foundations and individual philanthropy, with an emphasis in how business supports the arts in America and the different ways in which business benefits from the arts.
  • Assist in data analysis and in research and editing to create specific tools and web resources that can be used locally by our partners around the United States to drive policy.
  • The PSI intern may also provide support in other national program areas, including the National Arts Marketing Project Conference marketing efforts.
 
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Writing skills, research skills, comfort with excel a must.
  • An interested in program research and development.
  • Most important is an interest in investigating the business value of the arts in the entire human life-cycle.
