SCOPE
The Development Intern will be involved in a range of activities typical for a development office.
 
The development department of Americans for the Arts is responsible for raising all contributed revenues for the organization. Program areas include corporate and foundation funding, individual giving, endowment, and fundraising events. This intern position will focus primarily on tasks related to corporate and foundation giving.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Development Intern for Institutional Giving will assist the director and coordinator for institutional giving with various projects. Projects and duties include:
  • Conducting prospect research for corporate and foundation prospectives.
  • Using search databases and publications such as the Chronicle of Philanthropy, online business magazines, WealthEngine, Corporate and Foundation Report, and Google.
  • Assisting with follow-up on corporate and foundation campaigns.
  • Corporate Circle, National Arts Awards, Arts Advocacy Day
  • Assisting with the planning and execution of donor events held in New York City.
  • Assisting with the input and maintenance of corporate information in the Americans for the Arts’ database, iMIS.
  • Assisting with proposal research and preparation.
  • Attending key meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Proficiency with Word and Excel. Knowledge of mail merges and data sorting in Excel.
  • Comfortable with talking to prospective donors via telephone and in person.
  • A fun and gregarious personality is a plus!!!
