The Corporate and Foundation Relations Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations with all aspects of institutional giving. The Coordinator will serve as lead for Americans for the Arts’ Corporate Circle program. This entails managing Corporate Circle membership recruitment, renewals, and stewardship of membership benefits. The Coordinator assists in the development and execution of materials for all corporate campaigns and is responsible for solicitation follow-up. The Coordinator’s responsibilities also include securing corporate and foundation support for Americans for the Arts programs and events, including the BCA TEN and National Arts Awards, the Annual Convention and National Arts Marketing Project Conference, and the Nancy Hanks Lecture on Arts and Public Policy.
Additionally, the Coordinator works with the Director to manage corporate and foundation deadlines for proposal submission and periodic/final reports. The Coordinator conducts prospect research and prepares development briefs as assigned. The Coordinator is responsible for drafting proposals, reports, sponsorship requests, and stewardship materials as assigned. The Coordinator maintains the electronic and paper records for all institutional funders and prospects and ensures that files are current and complete. In addition to general support of the Development department, the Coordinator arranges meetings with funders, program leaders, and development staff. The Coordinator will represent Americans for the Arts at special events as assigned.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Serve as the lead development staff member for Corporate Circle plus a variety of programs such as the Annual Convention and National Arts Marketing Project Conference
- Draft letters of inquiry, proposals, sponsorship materials, acknowledgement letters, and stewardship reports
- Develop fundraising, membership, and stewardship materials for Corporate Circle
- Research institutional prospects; prepare and maintain prospect lists for campaigns
- Prepare development briefs for meetings and input all contact reports following meetings into database
- Assist with solicitation follow-up; all follow-up phone calls for campaign mailings;
- Supervise and maintain corporate and foundation donor and prospect records, in both database and hardcopy files
- Manage the Institutional Giving Calendar in database and ensure that all program staff are aware of deadlines
- Manage and coordinate all development materials needed for packets, mailings and solicitations
- Represent Americans for the Arts at events as assigned
- Coordinate work assignments and training for temporary personnel and interns
- Assist with general fundraising needs as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree
- 2–3 years experience in corporate and foundation development
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Detail-oriented and highly organized
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects
- Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, Publisher, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet, and Adobe
- Fluency in netFORUM, iMIS and/or other database management software; fundraising module proficiency is preferred
- Some travel required
