Job Description: 

Coordinates and directs program oversight of all program activities into manufacturing operation at AMS. Directs the development of all manufacturing process upgrades in materials, fabrication technology, equipment and tooling to ensure economical and efficient manufacturing processes. Coordinates and directs activities with design engineers in ensuring the manufacturability of all new products and development initial product builds to ensure smooth transition to manufacturing through qualification but, not limited to new products.

Specific Responsibilities:   

Responsible for strategic planning, departmental budget planning and establishing goals and targets for the Aurora Mississippi Manufacturing Engineering Department to support the overall facility and company targets and goals. Responsible for establishment, maintenance and continuity of the manufacturing process from plant layout, tooling and equipment design, through delivery to the customer. Coordinates with the Aurora Virginia design engineering team on designs and design changes to ensure effective transition into manufacturing; Schedules MFG Engineering work load to achieve a smooth implementation of work and changes. Works with Design Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality Assurance to implement production launches. Oversees and leads department staff and identifies, defines, and provides training and mentoring to ME staff. Participates in vendor selection, process development, continuous improvement, and problem resolution. Monitors and supports prototype/pilot build activities in the factory. Approves all Purchase Requisitions generated by the MFG. ENG. Dept. Leads and mentors the MFG. ENG. Dept in skills development (staying abreast of all new technologies with a focus on aerospace composite structures in cutting, molding, and fabrication). Mfg M&P leader coordinating with Design M&P leader to develop and deploy advanced materials and processes (e.g. SBCF, Pi clips, etc.)

Minimum Requirements (education and experience):   

Minimum of a bachelor’s degree, preferred Masters in Mechanical Engineering Management and Manufacturing technology preferred. Minimum 10 years of technical and management experience working with in an aerospace production manufacturing environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and proven organizational skills.

Strong PC skills using CAD a plus.

Has expert composites M&P knowledge and experience in aircraft composite molding, fabrication, tooling, and processing.

Must be well organized and have demonstrated ability to develop and coordinate team relationships within multi-disciplinary technical work groups.
