The Department of Homeland Security faces considerable challenges in managing legacy IT cultures and meeting its expanding federal role while implementing essential consolidation and business transformation. In the DHS environment, these challenges need to be met to provide improved information sharing and collaboration at all levels of government with improved information system reliability and survivability for the benefit of all constituents.
 
Job Description
The SharePoint Development/Administrator will be responsible for the development, maintenance, and flow of information on our DHS IT NOVA SharePoint site. This includes implementation of the SharePoint Architect’s design, Software component design, conversion of ASP and.NET development, Access front end development, Documentum Development, Dream Weaver Development, MS, ESRI - GIS (geographic information system), to SharePoint products.
Primary focus of the position will be the development of SharePoint Workflow to include:
  • Development and maintenance of the SharePoint Portals.
  • Interface with SharePoint development team to implement graphics to meet the clients needs.
  • Development and maintain a graphics library with associated SharePoint framework.
  • Interface with GIS development team and facilitate deployment of GIS graphics into SharePoint.
Knowledge and/or ability to understand programming technology for current systems includes but not limited to the following: SharePoint Java, Java Script, Java Servlets, JDBC, JSP, ODBC , MS SQL, Windows based, VPN, SSL TCP/IP, TLS, HTTP, HTTPS, and other new programming languages
Primary ability to provide SharePoint programming services in developing relatively complex application using standard approaches or less complex systems using new approaches. This staff must posses the ability to independently run an entire system or portion thereof and to review and process its output for validity and accuracy.

Job Qualifications and Education:
  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited university
  • MCTS: Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 ― Application Development Certification
  • MCTS: Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 – Configuration Certification
  • 10 years experience in an IT environment and 3 years developing and using SharePoint
  • Must be able to interact with a variety of stakeholders
  • High degree of communication skills
  • Active DoD Security Clearance
