Vibrant is seeking a Database Administrator that will work within an international team of DBA’s between London and New York to help provide a database platform that remains stable and optimized 24 hours a day. The post holder will provide proactive monitoring of all servers, analysis and recommendations including design changes and optimization, and implementation of managed changes into the production environment. This role also requires monitoring system wide applications and escalation of issues as necessary to the relevant teams. The ideal candidate will be required to demonstrate initiative in order to achieve the team’s goals and in identifying and evaluating new opportunities as they present themselves.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Close monitoring of all production SQL Servers across all data-centers
• Maintain and monitor the company backup strategy
• Identify and propose improvements to database design and / or hardware design to improve and reduce the number of slow running queries
• Prioritization of workload
Requirements:
• 3-4 years minimum production and development DBA experience in high transactional and multi server environments
• Excellent working knowledge of T-SQL, stored procedures, MSSQL 2008 / 2005 Transactional Replication
• Expertise in the following: MSSQL 2008 Advanced Features
• Performance tuning and optimization skills
• Familiar with standard network and application monitoring tools
• Ability to recognize system issues and escalate where needed
• Preferred knowledge of following items: VLDB (very large databases ~ over 50G), triggers, UDF’s, DTS/SSIS, full text indexing, SQL Server 2005/08 Partitioning, reporting services 2008, Windows 2008 Clustering/Networking, Unicode and multilingual databases, SQL Server 2008, and technical report writing
