Opportunity to lead and to grow.  AEI Champaign is a small office in a larger firm.  This provides you a unique opportunity to wear multiple hats, lead the HVAC design on your projects, and gives you a connection to more experienced engineers in our Chicago office to obtain mentorship.

Hands on, client-oriented opportunity.  Project work involves building and infrastructure work on the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign campus and other institutional campuses. You will work closely with clients to learn user needs, collaborate with architects, develop engineering concepts and recommendations, and develop the design for those concepts.  You will have the opportunity to design, coordinate and implement the layout of distribution systems and equipment, design equipment room layouts, size and select major system components, perform field surveys and participate in all aspects of construction administration. 

Develop a growing practice.   Develop your own marketing skills as you participate in project interviews to help expand AEI Champaign's practice.

Qualifications include:

  • 4+ years experience designing HVAC systems for institutional facilities in a consulting environment
  • ability to work on projects from the concept stage through construction
  • understanding of applicable design codes, design standards and specification requirements, and the ability to interpret them
  • BSME or BSAE required
  • proficiency in AutoCAD required
  • strong communication and interpersonal skills, independent judgment, responsiveness
  • professional registration and LEED Certification a plus

Note:  This position is similar to the HVAC Senior Designer position listed.  We will fill one of these positions.
