This position, located in Chattanooga, Tennessee, is responsible for all aspects of material management within the business unit including procurement and outside vendor services. Manages purchasing staff and processes to ensure materials and services are delivered on time, technically correct, and at the lowest cost to meet customer needs while operating within corporate policies and objectives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
|
|
· Develop and implement procurement strategies for the purchase of commodities at the lowest cost to meet the required quality and delivery
|
|
· Ensure open orders are tracking on time with vendors and supply real time delivery dates. Communicate issues to appropriate parties as needed.
|
|
|
|
· Provide purchasing assistance to other coworkers and departments when necessary
|
|
· Provide leadership and direction to subordinates and promote teamwork between purchasing and other areas of the company.
|
|
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
|
|
· Recommend and implement changes to purchasing policies as needed
|
|
· Supports, cooperates with, and participates in company-wide EHS Management System which includes following all safety, health and environmental policies and procedures. Supports and cooperates in company-wide Quality Management effort
|
|
· Perform other duties as necessary
|
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervise purchasing staff. Responsibilities include: interviewing, hiring, and disciplining coworkers; assisting coworkers with training and professional development; conducting annual performance reviews; rewarding and disciplining coworkers; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Manufacturing Management or equivalent experience
· Five years professional buying experience in related industry; knowledge of products, goods, and services procured to meet the needs of the pump market. Nuclear industry procurement experience strongly preferred.
· Previous supervisory experience and ability to promote a team environment
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills, analytical, negotiating, and interpersonal skills
· Computer skills compatible with SPUSA standard software. Experience with SAP and nuclear manufacturing is preferred.
· ISM or related professional courses preferred. Plant or manufacturing experience preferred.
