JOB SUMMARY:  Delivers and picks up materials at library locations and returns them to the Library Support Center; sorts and stacks materials; performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS: This position requires the ability to operate a delivery vehicle safely and efficiently; the ability to drive under adverse road conditions, and the ability to recognize the need for vehicle repair and servicing. A strong knowledge of the road network as well as the geography and location of libraries within Allegheny County is preferred. Candidates should have some familiarity with basic computer applications, and the capacity to learn clerical procedures required to ensure correct sorting and accurate delivery of library materials. Good customer service skills are essential, as is the ability to work both independently and as a member of the Shipping Department team. 

This position requires the ability to stoop, lift and carry containers weighing up to 60 pounds and to move multiple containers to and from delivery sites. A valid regular driver’s license and a clean driving record are required. Selection for this position is contingent upon passing a pre-employment physical exam conducted by a medical facility contracted by Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh. A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required; experience driving a delivery van is preferred.

WORK HOURS: Monday – Friday; 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.; some weekend work may be required on occasion.

SALARY: $10.68 per hour
