Position Summary:
The Membership Intern at the Global Health Council provides administrative and programmatic support to department staff. The intern will become familiar with membership servicing, information collection and member outreach by working closely with Council staff on these activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The following is a list of roles and responsibilities associated with the intern position. Depending on the current needs of the department, intern may be asked to focus on selected projects from this list. Other activities may be required as needed.
· Aid the Membership Department staff with daily tasks including filing, answering email and telephone inquires, and research projects.
· Follow up with member requests and provides them requested information, as directed by department staff.
· Research potential member organizations in developing countries, and perform outreach to these groups. This also includes outreach to the International AIDS Candlelight Memorial coordinators in regards to membership.
· Assist with verification and updating of organizational member representatives.
· Conduct research on current and prospective members.
· Assist with organization and implementation of the Leahy Global Scholars Program
· Create an inventory of authors and topics of past GHC publications.
· Assist with the administration and support of the Council's issue-based caucuses.
Other Duties:
· Attend meetings as necessary.
· Participate with cross-departmental teams and assume the responsibilities agreed upon.
Qualifications:
· Competence in e-mail, word processing, database, and spreadsheet applications. Preference for Microsoft Office Products. Experience with Windows operating systems.
· Flexibility to assume a workload, which frequently necessitates an adjustment of priorities.
· Proven ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently with excellent time management and reporting skills.
· Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to interact professionally with diverse staff and members.
· Solid organizational, oral, and written communication skills and attention to detail.
