Overview: Cambridge Associates LLC (C|A) is a global consulting practice providing industry-leading investment consulting, financial planning, and proprietary capital markets and investment manager research to over 900 highly sophisticated institutional investors. Our global network of clients represents approximately $4.3 trillion in assets spanning all asset categories, including private investments, hedge funds, and traditional long-only (equity, fixed income) investments.
The Manager Information Group (MIG) is an evolving department tasked with centralizing all investment manager data collection processes across all C|A global offices. MIG serves as a liaison between investment management firms and C|A’s internal advisory departments. The group plays a vital back-office investment operations role to capture and input data efficiently and improve accessibility of information throughout the firm. Through the organization, maintenance, and ownership of various internal proprietary applications, the department provides operational support to C|A’s global investment consulting practice through all stages of the investment process. This includes fully servicing data needs for research, due diligence, consulting, and performance reporting, and supporting the firm through various ad-hoc research and request capabilities. MIG works with Private Investment, Hedge Fund, and Long Only investment managers to track over 8,500 firms across 26,000 funds and are responsible for capturing, inputting and reporting investment performance data for over 37,000 client portfolios.
The business operations teams that comprise MIG are the Client Data Team, the Private Investments Data Team, the Manager Data Team, and the Vehicle Specialist Team.
Client Data Team: Responsible for capturing, inputting and quality checking client-specific long-only equity, fixed income and hedge fund investment data from investment managers. The team operates proprietary document management and reporting systems in their daily operations to ultimately support the firm’s portfolio monitoring and evaluation services.
Private Investments Data Team: Responsible for capturing, inputting and quality checking fund and client-specific investment data from industry-leading private equity, venture capital and hard assets investment firms. The team operates proprietary document management and reporting systems in their daily operations to support the firm’s portfolio monitoring, research and benchmark services.
Manager Data Team: Responsible for collecting reports, inputting data points and ensuring the integrity of qualitative and quantitative data on thousands of long-only equity, fixed income and hedge fund investment products. The team operates an industry-leading proprietary database to catalogue captured data from investment managers across the globe to support the firm’s consulting and research services.
Vehicle Specialist Team: Responsible for analyzing and interpreting offering, subscription, and various other legal documents across both long-only and hedge fund asset classes to determine the liquidity terms of client investments. The team operates a proprietary database to input liquidity terms across investments to support the firm’s consulting and advisory services.
As the department continues to serve the ever-growing manager data needs of C|A, we are actively seeking highly motivated individuals to fill Junior Associate roles on each of these teams. Positions on these teams are operations focused and include back-office responsibilities in support of C|A’s multiple services. Positions across all MIG teams offer a great entry into the financial services industry and provide a wealth of opportunities to develop sound professional skills. The teams offer a fast-paced and dynamic work environment where high productivity, efficiency and learning are encouraged and valued.
